OZpoly
  Company Profile
Fylost Roto-Plastics Pty Ltd now trading as OZpoly, commenced operations in 1983 at its Innisfail manufacturing plant specialising in the manufacture of fibreglass products for commercial and industrial applications. Over a period of seven years the company developed a reputation for supplying high quality fabricated Fiberglass Tanks designed specifically for the Aquacultural Industry.

In 1989 the Company's Directors anticipated a move in the market away from fiberglass to Rotationally Moulded Products using polyethylene. Later that year Fylost acquired it's first Rotational Moulding Machine, the first of three CNC machines owned by the company in Innisfail. This makes Fylost Roto-Plastics Pty Ltd the longest established Rotational Moulder in Queensland, providing an extensive range of products and targeting new markets, not previously satisfied by Fiberglass. These products include water, molasses and chemical storage tanks; troughs and other custom moulded products.

In 1999 the Company’s Directors made a strategic decision to enter the South East Queensland market with a focus on rain water tanks and another factory was established in Richlands. The company commenced production with a carousel machine imported from Italy. At the same time a purpose built factory was developed at Heathwood (near Forest Lake) and in 2004 after moving across from Richlands production commenced at the new Brisbane home. This factory is the SEQ base for the water, molasses and chemical storage tanks, Landscape Easy garden edging and other custom moulded products.

From it's small business beginnings, Fylost Roto-Plastics Pty Ltd t/a OZpoly are recognised as being leaders in the Rotational Moulding Industry within Australia. The company has established their individual markets of custom moulding, supplying local, domestic and international markets.

With two factories and eight rotational moulding machines operating 24 hours a day OZpoly can provide high quality products with short lead times and competitively priced.

The machines used by OZpoly are computer centralised numerical controlled [CNC] roto-moulders, which allow for:
  • Even wall thickness
  • A high degree of efficiency, reducing manufacturing costs thus ensuring lower cost parts.
  • Moulding of various types of thermo plastic including engineering resins.
  • High volume production
  • Foam sandwich construction
  • Air induction for inert gases
OZpoly has the capabilities to manufacture the highest quality parts for a wide range of clients and industries. With a full time industrial designer on staff using the latest CAD software to design products and moulds and a complete engineering workshop with qualified tradespeople to manufacture the moulds, OZpoly really is a one stop roto-moulding design and manufacturing facility.

All of OZpoly products are rotationally moulded to produce a consistence of strength and durability which can only be achieved through quality control, aligned to standards ISO9001.

The quality is evidence with certification to the Australia Tank Standards. We have implemented a quality management system based on ISO 9001:2000 for our water tank operations and our round water tank products are certified to AS4766 “Polyethylene Storage Tanks for Water and Chemicals”. The essential requirements of the standard are:
  • Finite Element Analysis of the tank designs to confirm structural soundness
  • Certified water storage volumes
  • Impact testing of the finished tank materials
  • Wall thickness checks on all tanks
  • Visual inspection of all tanks
  • Serial No. labelling for traceability
  • The use of high grade materials and components. We use Hexane resin that is of the highest quality with long term strength, durability and no taste. All materials in our tanks are made from food grade materials.
In July 2005 Fylost Roto-Plastics announced the re-branding of their trading name to “OZpoly”. This also coincides with the successful certification to Australian Standards AS4766 “Polyethylene Storage Tanks for Water and Chemicals” Licence no 20375 Brisbane and 20392 Innisfail.

Managing Director Peter Vybrial, who founded Fylost Roto-Plastics Pty Ltd twenty four years ago, stated “this is an exciting time for OZpoly. Re-branding will provide our company with a recognisable logo and market presence. Additionally Australian Standards accreditation confirms our already high standards in our manufacturing process.”

OZpoly has incorporated the Australian colours, combined the Oz (Australia) and poly (polyethylene) to form the new trading name and chosen a native Australian cockatoo named Poly, as their emblem.

  Rotational Moulding
What is the Rotational Moulding Process?
If you need hollow parts, especially those with complex and varied shapes, rotationally moulded plastic may be your answer.

Versatility of the process allows for a wide range of product sizes ranging from a small ball to large 10,000 litre vessels made of polyethylene, and a choice of grades of resins used.

Products that before where made of fibreglass or other materials can now be manufactured in plastic by roto-moulding and are more economic, lighter, stress-free and significantly stronger.

As with all efficient machines the process is simple in concept. Heat is used to melt and fuse the resins in a closed mould. The charged mould is moved into an oven and heated while being rotated, generally on two axes at low speeds. The resin adheres to the mould's inner surface until it is completely fused. The mould is then cooled by air or water spray, opened and the finished part removed.
